Frequently Asked Question

Smart Building Platforms & Structure

What you see are sleek, minimalistic thermostats, smart locks, and mobile apps, but it’s what’s hidden inside that is even more beautiful. Citylink’s infrastructure can connect the countless devices your property has today, and more importantly, the ones of tomorrow.

We empower smart building and property management platforms by connecting them to the physical world.

Smarter buildings use a global multi use network that hosts all the building's network devices and pays for itself by reducing redundancy, duplication, and operational confusion.

Bulk Internet

The System

  • Each suite has a wireless modem / router with dedicated feed from comm room.
  • The network in each suite is managed by the tenant.
  • Life-Tech devices include: laptop, smart TV, robot vacuum, Wi-Fi enabled, coffee machine, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple TV.

The Structure

  • Unilateral adoption of single source connectivity with a registered Telco.
  • Deal structuring enables cost reduction to the end user and developers.

The Misconception

Many developers believe that the bulk media network covers them for smart building infrastructure. Unfortunately the realization that this is not the case, often transpires too late and causes cost overages and reduces empowering decisions. The devices that should exist on this network are store purchased client specific Life-tech devices, not purpose built globally managed prop-tech-devices.

Sub Network

The System

  • The subnet is a network for communication of globally administered devices. This is a closed network for building platforms.
  • Each Prop-Tech Service has wireless Transmitter (Wi-Fi/Zigbee/Z-Wave/RF) with dedicated feed from comm room.
  • Prop-Tech Devices in suite connect wirelessly to corresponding wireless transmitter.
  • Prop-Tech devices can include smart locks (RF/Zigbee/Z-Wave), Leak sensors (RF), Lighting (Wi-Fi), Motorized Blinds (Wi-Fi/ Zigbee), and Thermostat (Wi-Fi).

The Structure

  • Each Prop-Tech Service has its own connectivity needs, in this model most are wireless Transmitter needs (Wi-Fi/ Zigbee/Z-Wave/RF) with dedicated feed from the comm room.

The Misconception

All devices communicate over Wi-Fi. Wireless access points are cheaper and more effective to deploy. Wireless is better for future proofing. The stability and security of wireless is nearing perfection. Unfortunately these are just a few of the common misconceptions.

Converged Network (Citylink)

The System

  • Each suite has RCU Room Control Unit, with dedicated feed from the comm room.
  • Prop-Tech Devices in suite connect directly to dedicated RCU, reducing the need for multiple fragmented networks.
  • Prop-Tech Devices include smart locks (Zigbee), Door Contacts (wired), Leak sensors (Wired), Lighting (Wired), Thermostat (wired), Motorized Blinds (Wired), HVAC over-ride (wired), utility metering, secured non data mining, and life tech devices.

The Structure

  • One network drop to each suite connects all the various devise to one central controller. This consolidates Infrastructure and information on one platform.
  • Wired connections provide faster and more reliable connectivity, free of third party fees and data leaks.

The Misconception

Converged smart building platforms, and purpose built enterprise devices cost more than consumer products. If a converged system fails all the devices become inoperable.
